Nirza Lake is the largest one in the Nirza parish. The area of the lake equals to 556,8 ha (1375 ac) and it is the third largest in Ludza municipality. The mean depth of the lake is 8 m (26 ft) but maximum depth − 21 m (69 ft). It is the deepest lake in the municipality. On the east coast a peninsula stretches in the lake.

The shores around all the lake are gently sloping. Also our beach has a flat and sandy shore. Children can feel safe here.

The lake is full of crayfishes and variety of freshwater fish species − pike, perch, roach, bream, crucian, burbot etc.
